Optimizing Cooling Design Using Analysis to Minimize Cycle and Improve Part Quality
Many tool designers and molders overlook the importance of balancing flow and temperature in tools. If you are using a manifold which will require only a few external in's and out's, "path of least resistance" can produce very different flow rates and Reynolds numbers in individual channels creating hot spots in the tool. If all channels are independent, hooking up externally can be done incorrectly or differently over time and again producing inconsistent part quality. Understanding how to circuit channels internally and how to use manifolds correctly will reduce the volatility. Reduce cycle time and improve part quality.
